Terms of sale and licence
These terms cover buying a Weft licence and using the Weft app. They are written to be read. If anything here is unclear, write to [email protected].
Who you’re dealing with
Weft is made by Victoria Fifield, San Francisco, California (“we”). Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com Market Limited (“Paddle”), the merchant of record for all orders. Paddle sells the licence to you and handles payment, invoicing, sales tax and VAT, and customer service for billing questions and returns. Paddle’s buyer terms govern the purchase, payment, invoicing, tax and refunds, and take precedence over these terms on those matters. These terms govern your licence to use Weft.
What you buy
- Weft Personal is a one-time purchase of a licence for one person, on as many of their own devices and browsers as they like.
- It includes every update released in the 12 months after purchase. After that we plan to offer a further year of updates for $39 / €39, a price the price lock keeps for you. Renewals are not on sale yet, and will never renew automatically without your explicit agreement. If you don’t renew, you keep using Weft with the features released in your update period, indefinitely.
- A licence is personal. You may use it for client work and in your business. You may not share or resell your key.
- Your key is checked on your device and can’t be switched off remotely. If you receive a refund or a chargeback, your licence ends and you may no longer use the key.
- If we ever stop. If we shut down Weft or wefthours.com, we’ll announce it at least 90 days ahead, by email to licence holders and on this website, and publish a version of Weft that runs without wefthours.com. Your key and your backups keep working with it.
Free use and the trial
Tracking time, importing, reports, backups and exports are free and stay free. Invoicing is free for 30 days from first use; after that, creating new invoices needs a licence. Invoices you have already created always remain viewable and downloadable.
The price lock
The price you pay is the price you keep. If our prices rise, your licence, your update renewal and any add-on you already pay for stay at your price for as long as you keep them. We do not charge per seat, per use, per invoice, per client or per project.
Refunds
You can get a full refund within 30 days of purchase, for any reason. See the refund policy. This does not limit any rights you have under consumer law.
Your data
Weft stores your data only on your device. We cannot see it, recover it or delete it for you. You are responsible for keeping backups; the app helps you with reminders, one-file backups and, on supporting browsers, automatic backups to a folder. See the privacy policy.
Invoices and tax wording
Weft is software, not tax, legal or accounting advice. It helps you produce invoices and e-invoices with commonly required content and wording, and its validation checks a file’s format against published rules, not whether your tax treatment is right. You remain responsible for the correctness of your invoices and your tax obligations. If in doubt, ask a tax adviser.
Warranty and liability
We work hard to make Weft correct and reliable, and we fix reported problems promptly.
If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, you have statutory rights if Weft is faulty or not as described, and nothing in these terms limits them. We provide the fixes, including security fixes, needed to keep your version working as described, whether or not you renew updates. We are liable without limit for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, under product liability law and under any guarantee we give. For slight negligence we are liable only for breach of an obligation essential to the contract, limited to the damage that was typical and foreseeable when you bought. Where regular backups would have prevented a loss of data, our liability is limited to the effort of restoring it from such backups.
Elsewhere, and as far as the law allows, Weft is provided “as is” without implied warranties, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for your licence. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.
Changes and law
We may update these terms for future purchases; the terms at the time you bought apply to your purchase. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and as a consumer in the EU or UK you may also bring proceedings in the courts where you live.
