Clockify alternative · updated 28 October 2026
A Clockify alternative you pay for once.
Clockify is known for its generous free plan and low per-seat prices. If you need invoicing, though, it’s on paid plans, billed per seat every month. Here is an honest comparison with a one-time licence.
Clockify, in fairness
- A generous free plan with unlimited tracking, timesheets and reports, for a small team.
- Invoicing starts on Standard: $5.49 per seat a month billed yearly, or $6.99 billed monthly. Basic, the cheapest paid plan, has no invoicing.
- Other paid plans run from $3.99 to $11.99 per seat a month, billed yearly.
- Your data lives in Clockify’s cloud, behind an account.
For a large team on a tight budget, or anyone who only needs free tracking, Clockify is hard to beat. Weft’s tracking is free too, but it isn’t built for teams yet.

Where Weft fits, and where it doesn’t
A good fit if you
- bill by the hour, alone or for a small studio, from one computer
- want to pay once instead of every month
- care that your client data never leaves your machine
- invoice EU or German clients and need the wording and e-invoices right
- have years of history you’d rather keep
Not a fit yet if you
- need a team sharing live timers, or timesheet approvals
- rely on integrations with Jira, Asana or your accounting software
- want your timer synced across phone and laptop today (Sync is planned)
- take card payments through the invoice itself
Moving from Clockify
- In Clockify, open Reports → Detailed, pick the dates, then Export → Save as CSV.
- Drop the file into Weft. It recognises Clockify’s format on its own and shows clients, projects, hours and amounts before anything is saved.
- Import. If something looks wrong, an import can be undone from the import history.
